Hello Ottawa!

I'm now back in Ottawa and I'm not gonna lie but I'm feeling reaaaall gooooddd! :)
I start my classes tomorrow (first up is my law class) which is going to be pretty interesting. Interesting is never boring. I love interesting. :)

So far I have just been chilling, moving in and getting to know my room-mates. I'm ready to party the summer away and to see Ottawa and Toronto.

I have started using my strategy of little expectations. This strategy helped me to have the best semester I've ever had last year. It only makes sense to charge into this one with the same mind-frame...maybe it will bring in an amazing (if not better) result? haha.
Who knows, I guess when I don't set a high bar I know that I don't have as much pressure and I tend to be more relaxed and open about what comes my way...

So....Summer 2011, I don't know what has been planned for me this year, BUT I know that I'm ready for change, I'm ready for laughter, for the courses, for the sunsets, for God to teach me new things and just for some pure pure fun.  :)

Friday Thoughts Running Wild

Bonjour!

It's Friday! Time seems to be moving so fast. I'm heading back to Uni in 18 days and I'm really excited!! This will be my first summer away from home and it will definitely be interesting. I will be missing home because every summer my friends come back and we go out all the time; I also get a job somewhere (last year it was at a camp) and they are the best moments that I never want to end. I also have been home for the past 4 months (hence my anticipation to go somewhere else!) so I think it would be good for me to be in a different environment and to experience new things.

Honestly, this break was one of the most beneficial things I've done in my life (oh yes, living for 20 years is a long time). The fact that I made the decision myself made a huge difference. Sometimes you don't need anyone to tell you what your next step should be. All you need is to decide yourself that you are going to go away....and that you are going to go to that place in order to fall back in love with yourself...

Desensitized.

A massive earthquake stuck Japan today (Friday) at 2:46pm (Tokyo time). It had a magnitude of 8.9 and has been ranked as one of the biggest earthquakes in a century. "The quake was so powerful that buildings in central Tokyo, designed to withstand major earthquakes, swayed".

There are a series of events that have been occurring in the world lately and my heart just goes out to all the people who are suffering. From the protests in Egypt and Libya, the earthquake in Japan and tsunami warnings around the world, it's just overwhelming to see these events happen so simultaneously.

For those in Japan I truly pray for them and I hope that they are saved from this tragedy.

I think it's funny sometimes how it takes something so big to shake us and to let us know that there are issues that are bigger than ourselves happening around us. I just question why. I question why it takes a tragedy that kills and harms so many people in order for us to wake up. If two people are killed we continue on with our lives, but if tens of thousands are harmed we all jump up and act as if we were humanitarians all along...

True Friendships?

"Be careful who you open up to. Only a few people actually care, the rest are just curious."

It seems like yesterday when I graduated from high school. Things were definitely different. I remember the laughs, the cries, the good times, the bad, and the infamous drama.

What else can you expect from a bunch of girls with cliques and groups in order to define themselves? I also remember making true friendships, and losing some as well; and this all happened in the course of four years.

It's definitely inevitable that people change and that high school has to end; but it's different when you actually start walking to the center of the auditorium at the sound of your name to receive your diploma...4 years achievement has finally paid off...university friendships here I come...

"Red Herring". But...what does that MEANNN?! -look it up.

POWER
[noun]
1."A person, group, or nation having great influence or control over others."
2."The ability or official capacity to exercise control; authority."
3. "The might of a nation, political organization, or similar group."
4."Forcefulness; effectiveness."

Students of Carleton University, please WAKE UP. We are not on a side with ANYONE at this point, we are only with EACH OTHER. That's right, you are ME and I am YOU. CUSA is not you, RRRA is not you, the president is DEFINITELY not you.
This is you...this triangle here, you are at the bottom, just like me.
